In this poem I think he is trying to say just because your a poet you don't have to wear black or drink expensive coffees and that poets are the exact same as normal people they just use creative words and present them, for example "I think I could be a poet because I like to wear a lot of black.And I can think of incongruous images like a Marxist with a trust fund." In the second verse he shows he is a poet and he can swear and get mad and that poets aren't all quiet and sly and clever. "And I am not afraid to get pissed off!I am not afraid to use that ONE requisite swear word to let you know I am FUCKING serious, man!" He's trying to break the stereotype. One of the literary devices that I noticed were ending each "line going up,every single line going up" and that is repetition.
